As a parent, you must be willing to see your child admiring
study and books a lot, though not everyone is fortunate enough to get their
wish fulfilled. Some kids are just not inclined towards books, classes and
assessments, if yours is one among them then most probably you might be facing
a constant dissatisfaction. Usually, people don't know the right way of dealing
with such kids and force them; this is something you should not do at all. And
if you are doing exactly this to your kid then change your habit as soon as
possible as this will lead you to an even bitterer situation. Try to assume
what he is feeling and what he is going through, realize that no one wants to
do a thing forcibly. The more you will compel him the more reluctant will be.
Don't trouble yourself and your child too much especially when we are here to
help you by introducing some ways through which you can encourage him to study
without nagging. Let's get started and know how you can do this:
Have a conversation
We know that you talk to him, what we mean is to get into a
sublime discussion and try to identify why he doesn't want to study. Comfort
him first and find out the solution when he shares the issue. Do remember that
problems which may seem trivial to you can be one of the tight spots for him.
Develop confidence
In some cases students are not dull or unwilling to study, they
have a fear of failure or kind of inferiority complex. Your kid may be fed up
with the constant pressure of performing better, nobody likes nagging, and if
you are used to doing so, it may be the same he feels. He may not believe in
his potential and fearing that he could not achieve as much as you expect.
Such situations are disastrous for any person, as such
thoughts gradually kill the enthusiasm and positivity and initiate hesitation
and disbelief. If he is going through this, put all efforts in making him
confident in every circumstance he faces.
Plan a mindful study
Your kid may not be good at making a good schedule, help him
for this. Make his study plans and timetable which are easy to follow as per
his ability. Focus on study smart and
not hard; this will work in building interest in him. Make sure that you are
not overburdening him with stringent boundaries. You have to ease out the
situation for him and not complex the matter even more. So, try to create a
connection between him and his books. The more he will be comfortable doing
study the better he will learn and perform.
